Alerts missing from time series panel?

Time series panel was added in 7.4, it seems pretty similar to the graph panel in terms of functionality.
However, alerts capability seems to be missing from this panel. Is this something that will be added later? Or is that a non-goal?

This is a non-goal. In 8.0, we will be releasing the first version of a new alerting which separates alerts from dashboards (and tons of other features like silencing that we have been missing for years)
