Correct usage of custom.ini

Hi,

we install grafana onto ubuntu using the packagecloud repo. We template /etc/grafana/grafana.ini with things like mysql credentials and where to send internal metrics.
Re-reading the documentation I noticed the custom.ini file.

Rather than overwriting /etc/grafana/grafana.ini should we be creating /etc/grafana/custom.ini and putting customisations there?

Cheers,

Matthew.

Hi,

Yes we recommend to use a custom configuration file. It’s convenient to have when you for example eventually upgrade Grafana in case any configuration in Grafana changes.
