Creating new users - how?

Hi.

I’ve installed Grafana, changed the admin user password, and created a dashboard.

I want to add another user with view-only rights on that dashboard, so I go to Configuration - Users, and the only button that looks like “create a new user” is “Invite”.

So, I click on that and I get a form with four fields: “Email or username”, “Name”, “Role” and a checkbox “Send invite email”.

I fill in a username, add a meaningful name, select “Viewer” as the Role, and untick “Send invite email” because there’s no address to send it to, and click on “Invite”.

I then get back to the Users tab and it shows me one “pending invite”. If I click on this is shows me the username I created and allows me to delete it if I want to.

How do I set a password, and turn this into a real user instead of a “pending invite”?

I’ve checked https://grafana.com/docs/guides/basic_concepts/ and https://grafana.com/docs/auth/overview/ but I don’t see there anything about how to do this presumably rather simple thing.

I’ve found Create a new user with no email access which shows I’m not the only one to find this rather puzzling, but the lack of response there doesn’t help me solve the problem.

Can anyone help?

The pending invite has a invite link you can use to compete the user sign up.

Or you can go to server admin / users , it has a create user page

Oh, right, something else that’s “not exactly obvious” I think…

Oh, yes.

Why are there two screens for user management? A bit confusing, surely?
