I’m new to Grafana and while experimenting I’ve found that I’ve wanted to experiment with changes before releasing them on a production panel. It would be really hand to have the possibility to duplicate a panel, so you can make changes to the new one and not break the working one, and also a move panel function to allow you to move a panel to another dashboard - such as your experimental panel where you play around with settings.
I’ve found I’ve had to do quite a lot of opening two windows, copying settings from a working panel to a new one to then modify the copy.
Hi,
You can duplicate panels. This have been supported for a long time. Click up the context menu for a panel, select More and then duplicate.
Regarding moving panels we’ve introduced a new feature that will be included in Grafana v5.0, right now only released in beta. See issue.
Marcus
In fact I have the beta version running, I just hadn’t tried that more menu option and didn’t know what the panel option even meant.
Thanks
Hi @mefraimsson, I use Grafana 7.3.6 and could not able to copy and paste Panels. Each panel has more than 30 graphs and create a new panel will be so hard. Do you have any solution for me?
Hi @nildenist
Are you trying to copy panels across dashboards?
To duplicate a panel you can use the following menu
At the top, theres a dropdown next to the Panel Title. You should see a “More…” option. In that submenu, the ability to duplicate a panel is there
Hi @TaiyoShin actually I mean row panel. After creating panels under row panel, I want to duplicate this row panel. How can I do this on Grafana?
@nildenist I could not find a way to copy paste or duplicate rows in a fashionable way.
What you can do is:
1.Go to Dashboard Settings
2.Select Json Model
3.Find the appropriate panel of type “row” like the following example:
...
}
],
"title": "Teste1",
"type": "row"
}
4.Copy the value and paste it/duplicate this value and you will get another row.
I followed this steps and was able to duplicate a row. Just keep in mind that, even though I didn’t mention in the steps, the final model must still be a Json.
@TaiyoShin what did you mean by “paste it”? Could you share an example?
Yes I can show an example.
As you can see in the picture above, I have a panel inside a row.
The Json in the json-model is:

Note that what was added was a panel of type row. It’s not elegant but it worked for me
Hi @TaiyoShin
The solution you offer have questionable issue:
Where this json should be pasted? I want to duplicate row panels in the same dasboard, and a dashboard has only one json model. I try to paste row panel jason part into dashboard’s json model but it doesn’t save.
And could you share the duplicated row panel’s ss? Thanks.
I have tested and got results with the above method.
Yes, the dashboard does have 1 model only but overwriting the Json model should work. Thats how i got the duplicate part.
And could you share the duplicated row panel’s ss? Thanks.
I don’t understand what you mean about ss and I cannot tell which panels you want to duplicate.
This is the duplicate part on the example i sent
