Group series with different aliases?

Hi! I have a panel with several series, and I notice when I alias them such that they overlap (e.g. A, A, B, B, C), clicking on A will show me both series aliased A. I want to utilize this feature in such a way that I can define how the series are grouped. Ideally, I could alias them such as (A.1, A.2, B.1, B.2, C.1), and clicking on A.1 will show me both A.1 and A.2.

Does anyone know if this is possible? Thank you so much
