How to make General folder read only

  • What Grafana version and what operating system are you using?
    9.4.3

  • What are you trying to achieve?
    Change default dashboard location to a different folder aside from General or make General Folder read-only.

  • How are you trying to achieve it?
    Through using the UI. I don’t see any options for doing this.

  • What happened?
    A new dashboard accidentally got added to the General folder by default and was accessible to all users on the server for a period of time.

  • What did you expect to happen?
    We heavily use teams to restrict access to dashboards. When an admin user creates a new dashboard we sometimes mistakenly leave this in the General folder but would prefer to keep it in a different folder with restricted team access. Organizations are not the solution for us as they are a bit too restrictive.

  • Can you copy/paste the configuration(s) that you are having problems with?
