Adding a new panel breaks existing layout

Hi all,

I have the issue that whenever I add a new panel to a dashboard, random existing panels get moved around.

The layout consists of three rows with panels in them and when I add a new panel the diaglogue to pick what I want to add (row, panel, from library) appears at the very top. But at the same time some existing panels move next to it and then also remain there. Need to manually move them back then again. Quite annoying. :frowning:

Any ideas how to fix this or what causes this?

Hi @johannes2813,

Thanks for opening this post.

Please review the submission template and include more details:

  • What Grafana version and what operating system are you using?
  • What is your datasource?
  • Can you please share a screenshot or a small screencast/gif file so that we can also view it?
  • Did you receive any errors in the Grafana UI (also e.g. in the Chrome Browser developer tool) OR in the backend logs? If so, please tell us exactly what they were.

Hi @johannes2813,
To prevent panels automatically moving when adding a new panel to dashboard I group all other panels under rows. That way new panel is added on top of rows and does not affect position of other panels.
