Cloudwatch: DIMENSION_NAME issue

Grafana version: 4.3.2
OS: Ubuntu 14.04

I’m having a small issue creating a graph from a Cloudwatch datasource. I’m trying to use the alias field to display the dimension name ({{DIMENSION_NAME}}, according to the contextual help), but it just displays DIMENSION_NAME on the graph instead of the actual name.

I tried changing it to one of the other alias options, eg. {{stat}}, and THAT works fine, displaying the actual value.

Is this a bug, or am I doing it wrong?

Just following up on this - does anyone have any suggestions to get this to work properly?

The documentation is not great here. You should substitute DIMENSION_NAME for the actual name of the dimension. For example - InstanceId.
