Create Alert when a service goes off

Hi, I am using Grafana and I have liked this product very much. I have a question about the alerts.

alert feature is good and we can set the limit on a value. If the limit is broken, Grafana alerts us.

I want to know that if there is any way by which Grafana can alert when a particular service goes down ? Like, If I am using Influxdb with Grafana and monitoring Redis, alert can easily be created on some value. But Is there any way by which Grafana can inform me that Redis server is down ?

If Grafana cannot do it, Is there any other tool you would like to recommend ?

You can alert on some metrics not having a value (not being reported), depends on what redis metrics you have and if any value there indicate it is down or now (or lack of value)
