How to set a default value for a variable?

How can I have my variable select a different default value other than the first one?

I see it might be possible according to this thread but I see nothing about it in the docs nor UI.

Any ideas? The default All is not being chosen, 0 is which never has values - annoying.

Select the preferred value and then save dashboard + check Save current variables:

We tried that, but that does not work when NO value is selected for a variable. We would like to have an “empty” dashboard where everything is setup as we need, and no variable has any value selected. Can that be achieved too ?

you can define Additional variable, like “None” and make it default for the dashboard.
