K6 as part of enterprise toolkit

K6 exe is free to use for an enterprise without any licenses/cost? Am recommending k6 to a friend of mine, thought of double checking before I do so.

  • They are not looking for k6 cloud.
  • Plan is to support provide test results to devs. For devs to interact, there will be a UI app keeping k6 OSS executable as backend.
  • Tests will get executed on their dev machines as well as on the azure devops pipelines(not targeting production env).

What you’re describing sounds like it would fit within acceptable OSS use, without requiring a commercial license. I’d however recommend that your friend’s company evaluate what works for them in terms of licensing, support etc.
